Today I made some major improvements that have been needing to happen since the beginning. First of all, I added a texture to the floors. The texture just makes the floor more obvious and makes it easier to figure out where you are and also how fast you are moving. Next, I removed that ugly pace-holder floor. It was red and glowy and was really just there to keep the player from falling infinitely. Today I added some a script that will reset your location once you fall 25 units below the level. It was honestly quite easy and I don't know why I didn't do it sooner. I also updated the icon on GitLab and added the icon's .blend file so you can see how it's made if you wish. There is also a nice environment texture so that the level looks less plain. Also, it looks cooler! In the previous releases (P-18.10.01 and earlier) you could actually shoot yourself and end up messing up the character controller. You can still shoot yourself but it will no longer rotate your character and mess up how it moves. I also noticed that in those earlier builds when walking sideways the guns would clip into the main character model. To fix this I have just spread the guns apart for the time being. I also fixed a major loading issue from the initial commit of the environment map. The file, which was rendered at twice the resolution of 1080P, was preventing LightStrafe - Online from loading due to its massive file size. Not only was it high resolution, but it was also a .hdr which is already a way bigger file size than a standard image. I fixed this by replacing it with a .jpg at less than half the quality. The next order of business will definitely be getting the AI working. I haven't started on coding it yet so it may take a while. I still am not sure exactly what projectile type I want to use yet but I was thinking maybe I should do some sort of guided missile that you have to outrun. This will probably lead to me making a UI with health tracking sometime soon as well as lives. The latter is still not certain yet though. If you have any ideas then let me know in the "Suggest a Feature" tab at the top. Have fun!
